Sun, Allison, Auyeung, Matthews, Norton, Baron-Cohen & Brayne (2014) 737 in mainstream schools 50 children with autism - Age Range: 4-11.4 years Categorical data factor analysis and item response theory

A combination of categorical data factor analysis and item response theory – good fit model of a two-factor solution for 28 items on the Mandarin CAST.

Goodness-of-fit indices: RMSEA = 0.029, CFI = 0.957, TLI = 0.950, SMSR = 0.064. Correlation between the two factors was moderate (GFC = 0.425).

Results indicated that symptom manifestation of ASC in Chinese children is similar to Western populations.

Sun, Allison, Auyeung, Matthews, Baron-Cohen, Brayne (2013) 70 children with autism - Age Range: 6.3-11.2 years Test–retest reliability, Mandarin Chinese version

With cut-off score of 15, test-retest reliability was good (kappa = 0.64).

Using 3 categories (˂11, 12-14, ˃15) was moderate (weighted kappa = 0.53).

Correlation between scores at CAST-1 and CAST-2 was good (Sprearman rho = 0.73).

Mandarin CAST demonstrated moderate to good test–retest reliability as a screening instrument for mainland China.
